5000 years ago a great civilization, the Vedic Civilization was prevelant on the planet. A great battle was fought at Kurukshetra in India. The events which led up to this event can be read about in the great historical Epic known as Mahabharata, which means great India. Vedic civilization lived according to the 'Vedas'. Veda is Sanskrit for, knowledge. The recorded history of the Vedic culture is the Puranas.
The Veda's are a library of information, of which thousands of volumes of information are existing. Not only do the Puranas talk of civilizations dating back billions of years on Earth, they also reveal advanced concepts in all known disciplines from which our modern society is derived.
A few personalities have presented the Vedas to the western world however none have had an impact even close to that of AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Who brought the Vedas alive in the western world, and has translated more Vedic scripture into English and many other languages than any other person in history.
Unfortunately the Vedic literature is hardly recognized for the wealth of knowledge that they are. Mathematical formulas such as Pythagorean theorem, which exists in the Rg Veda as well as astrological achievements attributed to Galileo also lifted directly from the Vedas and recorded thousands of years prior to their presentations. The point here is that the Vedas have been suppressed. The British who colonized India in the 19th century, where confronted with a body of knowledge so far beyond them that they immediately created the "Aryan Invasion Theory", which basically says that this knowledge must have been brought To India from 'Aryans', which to them obviously meant smarter white folks. Based on this false theory they have successfully suppressed the greatest wealth of knowledge known to man.
As revealed by the Veda's, Sanatan Dharma , is the true activity of the soul, from which we find peace, happiness and fulfillment. This can be achieved through religious practice or other disciplines as described in 'Bhagavada-Gita As It Is'. The basic principal is that we are not this body, but the living force within the body, the 'soul'. The activity of the soul is to know Absolute Truth, which is concluded in the Vedas as Krishna, or the cause of all causes and the most attractive.
All religious doctrine share the same basic moral code, however due to information filtration and misdirection of so called religious leaders many of the principals have been diluted or misrepresented.
The four basic principals of morality and religiosity as taught by Prabhupada, are.
1) No meat eating- This is as essential to human health as breathing clean air. The human body is physiologically an herbivore. This is evident in the structure of our digestive tract beginning with our teeth and jaw movement, the length of intestinal tract and concentration of digestive fluids. Starvation is the #1 cause of death in the world today and can easily be checked by proper management of food resources and a natural diet. Most, if not all religions contain laws which either prohibit or make meat eating less convenient, such as ritualistic practices that are meant to curtail the negative karma incurred from taking a life. Unfortunately most so called religionists have thrown these essential teachings out and have accepted the horrific consequences of 'slaughter houses' and factory farming. Cooking also greatly decreases the nutritional value of food. My recommendation for survival would not be slow starvation by eating canned food or cooked grains and beans. Nor would I recommend suddenly becoming a hunter and chancing survival on a food supply and skill which may or may not be acquirable.
What I recommend utilizing, if necessary, are sproutable grains which can be turned into a variety of foods and cooked in the sun or eaten raw as a complete living food. Learning how to grow and sprout your own food is way easier, cheaper, more reliable and a healthier solution.
Here is some recommended reading on a natural diet .
2) No intoxication, dulling your thinking process with intoxicants is exactly what our zionist masters would like us to do. Habitual use of intoxicants can be very costly in terms of spirituality, mental and physical well being.
3) No gambling, not gambling is a simple display of faith and responsible utilization of resources you have at hand.
4) No illicit sex, sexual activity should be practiced only in a monogamous relationship and if following strictly only for the procreation of God conscious children.
So these are the four pillars of sinful life. The more devout you are towards morality and Truth, the easier these rules will be to follow and understand. I'm not saying these rules are easy to follow in this modern age but they are a simple gauge of ones spiritual progress and designed to increase social stability.
The Vedas are a complete guide to life on this planet and recommended reading to all truth seeking individuals. The cream of the Vedic liturature is the Bhagavada-Gita As It Is, Which was imparted by Krishna(the cause of all causes)to Arjuna, the greatest ksatrya(warrior) of his time, while preparing for what could be called the first true world war, 'The Battle of Kurukshetra'.
Finally I will conclude with the greatest teaching of the Kali Yuga age, a mantra which when chanted purely promotes spiritual growth and reveals all knowledge. This mantra was presented by Lord Sri Caitanya, in the late 15th century. It has been handed down, along with the Vaisnava teachings, by a line of 'Perfect Teachers', known as Acharyas, who 'perfectly' practiced what they preached.

According to Srimad-Bhagavatam, gold encourages falsity, intoxication, prostitution, envy and enmity. Even a gold-standard exchange and currency is bad. Gold-standard currency is based on falsehood because the currency is not on a par with the reserved gold. The basic principle is falsity because currency notes are issued in value beyond that of the actual reserved gold. This artificial inflation of currency by the authorities encourages prostitution of the state economy. The price of commodities becomes artificially inflated because of bad money, or artificial currency notes. Bad money drives away good money. Instead of paper currency, actual gold coins should be used for exchange, and this will stop prostitution of gold. Gold ornaments for women may be allowed by control, not by quality, but by quantity. This will discourage lust, envy and enmity. When there is actual gold currency in the form of coins, the influence of gold in producing falsity, prostitution, etc., will automatically cease. There will be no need of an anticorruption ministry for another term of prostitution and falsity of purpose.

The poor inhabitants of this earth, because of their incomplete knowledge, are captivated by a so-called bhagavan who can produce a small quantity of gold. However, it is understood that in a higher planetary system in this material world, the mud on the banks of the Jambu-nadi mixes with jambu juice, reacts with the sunshine in the air, and automatically produces huge quantities of gold. Thus the men and women are decorated there by various golden ornaments, and they look very nice. Unfortunately, on earth there is such a scarcity of gold that the governments of the world try to keep it in reserve and issue paper currency. Because that currency is not backed up by gold, the paper they distribute as money is worthless, but nevertheless the people on earth are very proud of material advancement. In modern times, girls and ladies have ornaments made of plastic instead of gold, and plastic utensils are used instead of golden ones, yet people are very proud of their material wealth. I am referring to study in ) The Journal of Clinical Pathology (USA--July 2001) wherein it has been published that veggies have helthy hearts.Many health - experts (including Dr. Michael Brown and Dr. Josef Goldstein, heart specialists of U.S.A. & winners of Noble Prize of many million dollars for Medicine) now recommend a diet, free of eggs and meat, for better health and disease-free life. The basis of their finding is:

a) All flesharian foods i.e. eggs, fowl, fish, meat etc. contain no dietary fiber at all and so they cause a numberless bowel diseases such as chronic constipation, piles, gall-bladder-stones, colon cancer, indigestion, ulcer, colitis, kidney -failure, diverticulosis etc. All these illnesses can be prevented easily by taking only vegetarian foods which are full of dietary fibers.

(b) The yolk of the egg contains 250 to 300 mgs cholesterol, a waxy fat, which deposits itself in the liver and hardens the arteries. The coronary arteries supplying blood to the heart are thus affected, causing fatal heart-attacks,strokes,gallstones,claudication,etc.

c) The egg-white contains "Avidin" poison causing leprosy, eczema, paralysis, skin inflammation, skin-cancer, allergy etc. Prof. Egnerberg of Germany has found that eggs produce 51.83% of phlegm (cough) and disturb the balance of nutritive elements within the body. He further discovered that besides Salmonella, the incidence of Listeria is also on the increase which causes flue resulting in Meningitis etc. It can lead to the possibility of abortion in expectant mothers and diseases to the foetus. A brain disease called Creutzfeldt Jacob's disease is similar to a disease in sheep called "scrapie". It has been known to pass into human beings from animals through the eating of eggs.

d) All types of meats / eggs contain saturated fatty acids which are dangerous to health, particularly for blood vessels. Eggs also lack in vitamin B complex, vitamin C, calcium and carbohydrate and produce hyperacidity. Initially, eggs were considered to be easily digestible on animal -experiments but these days recent experiments on human beings have proved that they are not easily digestible. On the one hand, eggs are hard to digest, while on the other hand, infants and young children have very tender digestive system. So eggs must not be given to toddlers & youngsters even by mistake! Dr. E.B. Emary of America and Dr. Inha of England have clearly admitted that eggs are poison for human beings.

The underdeveloped / developing countries 's scene is even worse. Experiments indicate that if eggs are left at more than 80c for more than 12 hours, the process of decay starts within their shells. Under the circumstances, where the temperature is always high, and it takes about 24 hours for the eggs to reach from poultry -farms to the sales counters, the process of contamination does already start as it is not possible to keep the eggs from their procurement to selling in refrigerators. During the process of decay, the watery component of the egg first begins to evaporate through the shell, then it is invaded by disease germs which penetrate the outer membranes of the egg and make it completely putrid. These minutely contaminated eggs are consumed due to their non-recognition resulting in stomach disorders, food-poisoning etc.

To guard against epidemics and poultry-- parasites, developing / un-developed poultry farmers make extensive use of D.D.T. and other such chemicals which in small measures enter the body of the birds and eggs. Generally an egg contains 15000 tiny breathing pores in its shell. The egg absorbs D.D.T. through its breathing pores. The people who eat such kind of eggs and chicken may also take D.D.T. inside them. Relation between D.D.T. poison and cancer is well established now-a-days. In this way, eggs may cause cancer -- a most fatal disease.

Secondly, to get more and more eggs from hens, poultry owners inject them with special kind of hormones (estrogen, progesterone etc). These hormones enter the eggs through their tiny breathing pores. The people, who eat such kind of eggs and chicken may also take these artificial hormones in them. According to the latest clinical research-studies, there is growing evidence that these hormones cause cancer to human beings. For the sake of good health, therefore, people should never eat eggs, chicken etc.

PORTLAND, Oregon — Veterans from the U.S. occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, along with Iraqis, Afghanis, Vietnam veterans, and family members of U.S. military personnel converged in this west coast city over the weekend to share stories of atrocities being committed daily in Iraq, in a continuation of the “Winter Soldier” hearings held in Silver Spring, Maryland in March.

At the Unitarian Church downtown, some 300 people gathered to hear the testimonies, which left many in tears. The five-hour event was comprised of three panels; Voices of Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, The Human Costs of War, and Building Resistance to War.

The goal of the event is to give veterans a platform by which to disseminate information about their experiences abroad to the general public.

“War changes people. You do not come out of a combat zone the same,” Iraq war veteran Chanan Suarez Diaz told the audience while moderating the veteran’s panel. “War is very numbing…it comes to a point that you see so much destruction you become numb. This bullshit about bringing democracy or liberation is nonsense — we’ve killed over one million Iraqis.”

Jan Critchfield, an Army National guard specialist, discussed his job working in Iraq as an army “journalist”, that in his words, “I was a propagandist, pure and simple.”

A somber Critchfield said, “I’m not proud of any of what I did over there — it was inhumane and it changed me as a person. I didn’t do anything but yell at people, push people around, and aim my gun at people.”

Other vets spoke as photos taken by soldiers were shown on a large screen above the stage.

Josh Simpson explained his work as an army counterintelligence agent in Iraq. “We would go to houses without any evidence, arrest people, and pay our source hundreds of dollars. This was common, it was a crazy cycle.”

“We were raiding houses every night in Mosul,” he continued. “You ransack their stuff, then ask our officer who he wanted to detain.”

The number of people detained was a measure of success for a unit, Simpson explained. “People’s mothers would be grabbing me, asking me why I was taking their child away, and I never had an answer. It’s terrible to push an elderly Iraqi woman away so you can take her child and load her into your Stryker vehicle, when you don’t even believe they belong there.” more...

Pradyumna: Translation: "The blessed messengers of Lord Visnu, the Visnudutas, said: If you are actually servants of Yamaraja, you must explain to us the meaning of religious principles and the symptoms of irreligion."

Prabhupada:

yadi nirdesa-karinah
bruta dharmasya nas tattvam
yac cadharmasya laksanam

They challenged, the Yamadutas challenged: "Who are you, interfering in our business? We have come to arrest him." So, before talking, the, the counterchallenge was that "You spoke that 'We are servants of Dharmaraja. So it is his jurisdiction... This person is impious. So this is the jurisdiction of Dharmaraja. He has to try the case and give him punishment, criminal department, law and order. So, you cannot interfere with us.' " Therefore the challenge is replied by Visnudutas that "If you are actually representative of Dharmaraja, who tries the case of dharma and adharma, first of all explain what is dharma and what is adharma."

This is very nice challenge. Suppose if somebody, if you say that "We are Krsna conscious persons." So one may challenge you, "First of all, explain what do you know about Krsna?" That is quite natural. If you do not know about Krsna, you have no right to say that "I belong to the Krsna consciousness movement." You have not right to say. So your position is like that, simply if you have a tilaka and a kanthi, that does not mean that you belong to the Krsna consciousness movement. Any cheater can do that. You must know the philosophy. If one challenges, you must reply. Therefore Bhaktivinoda Thakura has sung a song indicating these cheaters. He says, ei oto ek kalir cela(?). "Here is a servant of Kali." What kind of cela? Na te tilal golai mala (?). "He has got a tilaka and golai mala, bas, that's all." He does not know what is the philosophy. If you do not know the philosophy of Krsna consciousness, if you simply mark your body with tilaka and kanthi, then you are not proper servant, you are not qualified. So tilaka, mala, is necessary. Just like a policeman. A bogus man, if he dresses like a policeman, he is not a policeman. He must know what is the police law, criminal law, who is to be punished, who is not to be punished, what is criminality, what is innocence. All these things he must know.

So here is a very good challenge, that "You are talking that you are the servant of Dharmaraja. I know Dharmaraja." It is not that... Because they must know. They are coming from Lord Visnu, and they know that everyone is servant of Krsna. Ekale isvara krsna, ara saba bhrtya, yaiche nacaya, se taiche kare nrtya, in Caitanya-caritamrta. The master is one, Krsna or God. There cannot be two masters. That is not possible. Or two Gods. You cannot say, "In our faith, God is like this." That is nonsense. God is one. You cannot say, "In our country, gold is like this." No. Gold is everywhere the same. Either in your country or my country, it doesn't matter. Gold is gold everywhere. You cannot say "Christian gold," "Muslim gold," and "Hindu gold." No. Similarly, you cannot say "Hindu God," "Muslim God," "Christian God." No. God is one. Otherwise, there is no God. The definition of God is eka brahma dvitiya nasti. There cannot be any competitor of God. Just like nowadays so many rascals are coming, presenting, "I am God." What kind of God you are? You must check before accepting one rascal as God, what is God.

The description of God is there in the sastra: yasyaika-nisvasita kalam athavalambya jivanti loma-vilaja jagad-anda-nathah. That is God. By His breathing, millions of universes are coming with exhaling. And when He's inhaling, billions of universes are going within. Can you show like that? That is also not original God. That is plenary expansion of God. Yasyaika-nisvasita-kalam athavalambya jivanti loma-vilaja jagad-anda-nathah visnur mahan sa iha yasya kala-visesa. This transaction is going on in the body of Maha-Visnu. The material world is being created and annihilated. When there is exhaling, the universes are coming into existence; when there is inhaling, it is all finished. This material world is like that. It is not permanent. Everyone got such experience. Your body, it has a beginning at a certain date from your father and mother. It stays for some time, it develops, it gives some by-products, then it becomes old and you finish. This is material body. Everybody knows it. Similarly, the whole cosmic manifestation, what you are seeing, so big things--it may be very big thing, but the process is the same. Either you take the body of an ant or you take the body of Brahmaji or... The process, the same rules and regulations. Janma-mrtyu-jara-vyadhi. There is no change. So that is God. God is producing by His exhaling, inhaling, so many universes. Why should you take such a cheap God? As soon as the God has got some toothache, he goes to the dentist. And he's God! Don't take such cheap Gods. We don't take them. At least, we Krsna conscious persons. Just to accept Krsna as God...

Arjuna, he knew that Krsna is God. Therefore he requested Krsna, "My dear Krsna, can You show me Your form how You are universally working?" And He showed His universal form, how it is working, that is described in the Eleventh Chapter of the Bhagavad-gita. Why? Arjuna knew from the very beginning that "Krsna is the Supreme Lord; I am His servant." But either by Krsna's yoga-maya or Arjuna's humility, he played that "My family is more important than Your service." He played like that. At last, he agreed that karisye vacanam tava. So, Krsna and Arjuna, they're teaching us by playing, because Krsna can play with His devotee, not with others. Most confidential devotee. What He wants to teach. So Arjuna presented himself as ordinary human being. He's not ordinary human being; he's personal friend of Krsna. He cannot be bewildered, but he played the part of ordinary being, that "I have got attachment with my family. Why shall I kill them by Your order, and what is this, what is that?" so many, you know. Bhagavad-gita, there are questions and answers. And at last, Krsna said that "Give up this foolishness. Surrender unto Me." So he agreed, Arjuna. That is perfection. That is perfection.

So here the same thing. Krsna said... Krsna described what is the meaning of dharma. Here the question is that "If you are servant of Dharmaraja, then explain what is dharma and adharma." Dharma means religiosity, and adharma means nonreligiosity. What is adharma? Everything is... Because this world is duality. If there is black, there is white. If there is good, there is bad. If there is father, there is son. Otherwise, there is no meaning of son, eh, father. "I am father, bachelor daddy." No. If you are father, you must have a son. If you are a son, then you must have a father. If the son says, "I dropped from the sky," how it is possible? These rascals say it that there is no creator. How is that there is no creator? First of all, prove that you have no creator. Your father has created. How you can say there is no creator? Silent. The rascal is silent. You are talking of "There is no creator," but you, yourself, you were created by your father. So these rascals are talking foolishly and other foolish persons are accepting them. But we are not so intelligent. Our answer is that "You say there is no creator. How you are created?" It may be we are rascals also, but this is our simple questions.

This morning I was asking that why there is Sunday first and Monday second? Who can answer? Is there anyone in this meeting who can answer my, this simple question? Why, all over the world, the, everyone accepts Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Sambar, Mangalbar, Bhurbar, the same thing? There may be different language. And Saturday is last. Why this arrangement? Who can answer? Is there anyone? I've asked this simple question to so many. Even Svarupa Damodara, our doctor Ph.D., he has not yet answered. And I've asked this question to Dr. Wolfe also. He's not present here?

Devotee: "Someone has an answer."

Prabhupada: You have got answer?

Caitanya-simha: Because Sunday is God's day. Sunday is Krsna's day.

Prabhupada: That is your sentiment. Speak scientifically. Nowadays, the scientific days, you have to speak scientifically.

Devotee: The order of the planets.

Prabhupada: Yes, that is the answer. Anyway, he has got the right to ask that "You are representing Dharmaraja. First of all, explain what is dharma. Then we shall understand that you are representative or order-carrier or servant of Dharmaraja." That will be explained.

So here, in the Bhagavad-gita, we also can understand what is dharma. This is the question and answers between Yamadutas. But if you are serious student of Bhagavad-gita, we can understand what is dharma. Krsna says in the beginning of the Bhagavad-gita, yada yada hi dharmasya glanir bhavati bharata, abhyutthanam adharmasya. Just like this world is duality. If you are sick, that means you are not healthy. And if you are healthy, then you are not sick. Duality. There are two things, sickness and health. So if you are really religious, you are not religious(?). Nonreligious; not nonreligious. Two negatives make one positive. So two things are there. Religiosity and nonreligiosity. So duality. So Krsna says two things that yada yada hi dharmasya glanir bhavati bharata. When there are discrepancies in the matter of executing religious principles... So there is religion. Yada yada hi dharmasya glanir. Glanir means discrepancies. When there is discrepancies of religious principles and abhyutthanam adharmasya, and the society is prominent in doing sinful activities, abhyutthanam... If you are not religious, then you must be irreligious. Two things are there. If there is no light, it is darkness. If it is not darkness, it is light. Similarly, two things cannot go. Either you are a demon or you are Krsna conscious, godly. This is the conclusion. Dvau bhuta-sargau loke ('smin) daiva asura eva ca. There are two kinds of men in this world. Not only in this world, throughout the whole universe. Two kinds. No third. What is that? Daiva asura eva ca. One is godly, another is demon. So what is the difference? Visnu bhakto bhaved daiva. Those who are devotees of the Supreme Lord, they are called demigods, or godly. Asuras tad-viparyayah. And those who are opposite number, they are demons.

So we have got two tests. One test is sufficient. If one is not devotee, if one is not Krsna conscious, he's a demon, has finished our conclusion. We simply ask whether you are Krsna conscious, whether you know Krsna. If he says, "No, I don't know..." I think our Syamasundara's daughter is... She used to preach. She used to go to any elderly person when she was four years old. "Do you know Krsna?" she said. So he says, "No, I don't know." "Oh, the Supreme Personality of Godhead." This is preaching. Finish, preaching. A child can preach. A child can understand, "Do you know God?" "No." "You are a demon." (laughter) Finished. Where is the difficulty? As soon as you say "I do not know God," you are a demon. Bas. First-class demon. "I am scientist." "You are rascal." "No, I have studied, I have got my degrees." "Mayayapahrta-jnana. (laughter) Rascal, you have studied so long, simply waste of time. Your real knowledge is taken away because you do not know God." That is described. We have got very simple test in Krsna consciousness movement how to distinguish between an intelligent man a rascal. As soon as we understand that he's not Krsna conscious, he's a rascal. Bas. There is no need of testing. Even though he's M.A., Ph.D, D.H.C. and so on, so on, still we shall call him a rascal. This is open challenge; it is not secret. How? Canakya Pandita has said, tyaja durjana-samsargam vidyaya 'pi alankrto san. He very nicely says that rascals and fools, must give up their company. Tyaja durjana-samsargam. "No, I have got many friends, they are university educated." But he says, vidyayalankrto 'pi san. Even they are with degrees of M.A. Ph.D., tyaja durjana samsargam vidyayalankrto 'pi san. Nader was questioned by members of We Are Change Ohio at a campaign rally in Cincinnati, Ohio earlier this week.

That title gives away the real perspective of the writer as being a Zionist Jew however the writer declined to divulge his ethnicity or religion or even his/her name. Even though this additional land was illegally gained in violation of the Hague Regulations (1907) and the UN Charter (1945) which both included the basic legal principle that it is illegal to acquire territory by force, these new boundaries soon became the “official” boundaries of the new State of Israel.

Disciple: Srila Prabhupada, this is Carol Cameron, from the University of West Australia. For her master's degree in anthropology, Carol is writing a paper about the influence of the Vedic culture on the West. So she would like to ask you some questions.

Carol: Your Divine Grace, I would like to know why you initially came to the West. I know a bit about your background, but not very much. So I'd like to know why you saw the need to come to the West.

Srila Prabhupada: Yes. Not long ago I was speaking about that. Of course, I spoke in very strong words. What I said was, "Western people are claiming to be very civilized, but I have got an objection. That is why I have come to the West."

Srila Prabhupada: Just consider. The Ten Commandments and then Lord Jesus Christ and his disciples had to tell these people, "Thou shall not kill." So, first of all, what kind of men were they--that Lord Christ had to request them not to kill? That means they were killers.
Suppose somebody's a thief and I give him some good instruction. I say, "You should not commit theft." Of course, that instruction means that as of now, you are a thief. As of now, you are a thief. Otherwise, why should I say, "Thou shalt not commit theft"?
A naughty child is disturbing everyone. So I am forced to say, "My dear child, please don't disturb everyone." Similarly, when Christ said, "Thou shall not kill," that means he was speaking amongst people who were in the habit of killing. Is it not?

Carol: Hmm.

Srila Prabhupada: Now, after taking instruction from Christ, first of all they killed Christ. That means they could not understand the instruction. Therefore, their first business was to kill the instructor. And following that, two thousand years have passed--and still they are killing. So, since when have they accepted the teachings of Lord Christ? Can you answer this?

Carol: So you think the Christian faith hasn't been reflected in the behavior of Western people?

Srila Prabhupada: This is obvious. You are maintaining huge slaughterhouses--regular killing. So although you took instruction from Christ--"Thou shall not kill"--you first of all killed him, and still you are maintaining this killing business. You are killing the animals, and every now and then, you are declaring wars amongst yourselves.
So the killing business is going on regularly. Not just in big wars but also in your regular, daily life. You are maintaining big, big slaughterhouses. So, again, since when have you Westerners actually accepted the instructions of Christ? That I want to know. What is that date?

Carol: Your Divine Grace, do you see any hope for the world? We seem to be moving towards destruction.

Srila Prabhupada: First, you just explain.

Disciple: Srila Prabhupada is asking you, When did this civilization actually accept the teachings of Christ?

Carol: When have they? Overall, never at all. Only in small pockets. Overall, never.

Srila Prabhupada: Then why are you claiming that you are Christian? For instance, you are wearing a crucifix. You Westerners often keep or wear a crucifix, yet that sign actually means that you killed Christ. The crucufix is the symbol that you so-called followers of Christ killed Christ. Many, many people in the priestly order carry the cruifix. The crucifix is the sign that
Lord Jesus Christ was killed. Is it not?

Carol: It is, but that symbol is also used to signify his triumph, or resurrection.

Srila Prabhupada: [Warily:] Maybe. [Laughter.] But mainly, that symbol shows how you killed Lord Jesus Christ. That is the sign. That reminds you that you killed your spiritual master. You accuse the Jewish people--"They killed him"--but you also killed him, and you are still killing. Although, of course, you like to call yourselves Christian. Therefore, I want to know‑‑you are a learned scholar‑‑since when did you start abiding by the order of Lord Jesus Christ? That is my question. Since when?

Srila Prabhupada: Every one of you--throughout the Western countries. And if you claim you have actually abided by the order of Jesus Christ, then why you are systematically killing? The order is, "Thou shall not kill."

Carol: This matter reminds me of the Gita, you know?--where Arjuna is on the battlefield, about to commit an organized sort of killing against his relatives.

Srila Prabhupada: No. Arjuna's relatives were on the battlefield, attacking. The cows, pigs, and chickens are not on the battlefield, attacking. You cannot compare Arjuna's killing to your killing.
Two thousand years have passed, but to date you have not been able to not accept the instruction of Lord Jesus Christ. And you are all claiming that you are Christian. But since when did you accept Christianity? That is my question. Because as far as I can see, you have disobeyed the order of Christ. So, now that two thousand years have passed, when did you accept? Hmm? Who will answer this question?

Disciple: Never.

Srila Prabhupada: Hmm?

Disciple: They never accepted.

Carol: Hmm. Your Divine Grace, what is the main part of your philosophy? Is it based on the Vedanta?

Srila Prabhupada: This is no question of philosophy. You Westerners could not accept Jesus' simple instruction. Then where is the question of philosophy?

Carol: I think it is a question of love.

Srila Prabhupada: Yes. You Westerners have no love. You cannot understand the basic principle of life and morality, Jesus Christ's instruction that "Thou shalt not kill." So how can you become a philosopher?

Panditah sama‑darsinah: A pandita, a true philosopher or learned scholar, sees every living being equally--as a spirit soul, part and parcel of God. So fools and rascals can become philosophers. In English also it is said like that, that "Better stop talking than talking foolish." So in the material world actually all the talks that we indulge in, they're all foolish talks. They have been described in the sastra as croaking of the toads. "Kakaka, kakaka, kakaka." What is the meaning? We have got the tongue to talk. We can engage the tongue for talking about Krishna. But those who cannot talk about Krsna but talks all nonsense, better stop them talkng. That is called mauna. Mauna means "You cannot talk nicely; better you stop talking."

So that is a kind of vrata, vow. But our process is different: sa vai manah krsna-padaravindayor vacamsi vaikuntha-gunanuvarnane. We do not stop talking, but we talk for preaching Krsna consciousness. That is wanted. So there are many, you'll find, they take credit by not talking. Sometimes you go to them and ask some question, they'll write in pencil on the paper, "We will not talk." And what is the meaning of his silence? If you... If I put some questions and you write in paper, what is the difference between talking and writing? I am using the senses. For talking I am using the senses, tongue. Instead of using the sense, tongue, active senses, I am using my hand. So this is also sense gratification. The real fact is that you cannot stop the tongue working. Engage the tongue in Krsna consciousness. That is wanted. Don't talk material subject matters. In big, big meetings the politicians, the United Nation, they talking--but talking all nonsense, simply going there for passing resolution that "Now we have to do this. Then the world will change." No, it will never change. By such kind of foolish talking, it will never change. Better close this United Nation organization because it has not given any practical effect. But talking about Krsna, just see how it is giving practical effect. Dear Inquirer,
I thank you very much for your interest.
Since you would like to know more about the temple, the worshipers and the scriptures, I beg to inform you that this Krsna consciousness movement is based on the Vedic scriptures. Veda means knowledge, and there are two kinds of knowledge, one mundane and another transcendental. The Vedas are considered to be originally transcendental because they come from the platform which existed before the creation. This transcendental knowledge was impregnated in the heart of the first created living being, and then he distributed the knowledge both for material and spiritual purposes.

This Vedic knowledge was stated in the Atharva-veda. Later on, just at the beginning of this millennium, the Kali-yuga, Vyasadeva, who is the supreme authority on Vedic knowledge, considering the degraded condition of men in this age, divided the whole Veda into departmental knowledge, and some of his disciples were entrusted with the particular departments. In this way the entire Vedic knowledge was developed into four Vedas, then 108 Upanisads, 18 Puranas, and then summarized in Vedanta-sutra. And then again, to benefit the less intelligent class of men like women, workers, and the degraded descendants of the higher class, Vyasadeva made a fifth Veda, known as Mahabharata, or the great history of India.
